9 Month Old Boy {Kansas City Baby Photographer}

I think one of the things I'm most excited about with this photography gig, is the chance to get to watch children grow up right in front of my eyes. Many parents opt to have pictures taken several times in the first year of a baby's life, and for good reason! Have you ever really noticed just how much a child changes in the first year of life? Here's a great example - I've now taken this little boy's 3 month, 6 month and 9 month pictures, and at each session we've done the same pose with his mom.

Isn't it amazing to see how much he's changed in just those 6 months?! I love this visual! Even more, I can't wait to do his 1 year session and show all 4 side-by-side.

Ok, on to the rest of my favorites from his 9 month session! Get ready to see some amazing blue eyes!

While I was at their house, I also snapped a few of his older brother, who was about to turn 3. Older brother loves trains, so I had to get a few of him playing with those, and then we played a little game with some toy cars, in order to get him to hold still for the pictures.

Blue Eyed Beauty - {Kansas City Photographer}

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful 6 month old girl! Her eyes are just gorgeous, and I think you'll agree with me as you look through some of my favorites from the session. In addition to her 6 months pictures, we also worked in a couple of quick sibling pictures with her older brother and sister. These pictures just scream spring and cuteness, and I love them!

Heads up if you're contemplating family, child, maternity, newborn or senior portraits! My spring is booking quickly - as of 4.6.12 I have just one opening left in April and one in May. I still have several spots for our Mommy and Me Mini Sessions on May 4th though, and you can read more about that here! Bottom line - get in touch with me soon to discuss your portrait session! I can be reached on Facebook, by e-mail, and through my website.

Family Maternity Session - {Kansas City maternity and baby photographer}

We have had a truly remarkable stretch of weather here in Kansas City, and I love when a nice day happens to coincide with a session! Last Friday was one of those gorgeous days, and I was lucky enough to have an evening maternity session scheduled with a fantastic family. The almost 2 year old, soon-to-be big sis, kept me on my toes for sure (I felt a bit out of practice after not working with a child that age in several months!), but we had a great time.

I was thrilled to find we were in the right place, at the right time (and by "the right time", I mean that precious 5 minute window where the sun was in *just* the right spot) to pull off a couple of silhouette shots I had been plotting to try.

Here are a few of my favorites from the session!

Considering I've had two successful maternity sessions, I've decided to go ahead and add it to the "line-up"! Look for a maternity/baby package being added soon as well.

Spring at the Plaza {Kansas City Photographer}

Last weekend I met up with my friends Stephanie and Jeremy for a session on The Plaza. They hadn't had  portraits done pretty much since their wedding 8 years ago, and had decided it was time for an update! The change of pace was fun for me, as I didn't have to chase them around or bribe them with jelly beans, plus, it was just plain fun to be hanging out with friends for an hour!

Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

I Heart Faces - Beautiful B&W

I'm still in the midst of finishing up this couple's session from last weekend, but I thought this image would be perfect for this month's I Heart Faces photo challenge! My lips are sealed as to what made these two crack up, but I love the naturalness of the expressions.

Announcing Mommy & Me Mini Sessions {Kansas City photographer}

I've been hard at work this winter, brainstorming, planning, collaborating and getting all around excited about the mini-sessions I'm going to offer this spring! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Mommy & Me Mini Session!

Most of the moms I know are just like me when it comes to pictures - often behind the camera and rarely in front of it. Here is your chance to cast aside all of things that have been holding you back from being in pictures with your children, and create images that will be treasured in your family for years to come.

The Details:

  • Moms and children only - no family portraits. (Exception to this is if you want to add grandma to the mix to make it a generational picture.)
  • Mom does not have to be in all of the pictures (but you have to be in some), meaning this is also a great chance to update your child's portrait!
  • Session will last just 20 minutes, perfect for moody teenagers who don't want to be in pictures and active toddlers who don't want to stay in the same place for long, and all ages in between!
A total of 6 mini-sessions will be available, for the following times: 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm and 7:30pm.  (Times will be updated here and on Facebook, as sessions are booked.)

All sessions will happen at the same location (to be announced at a later date, but most likely in the southern half of the KC Metro).

Two Packages available!

Package #1: $75 for the session and a $40 print credit.
Package #2: $75 for the session and a custom necklace by The Modern Bauble ($45 value).

Sessions will be booked on a first come, first served basis! Payment of your $75 fee, within 48 hours of contacting me, will reserve your time-slot.

Proofing and ordering will be done via password protected gallery.

To view my portfolio, basic print prices and contact information, visit the Faces You Love Photography website.  My e-mail is helen@facesyoulove.com.

Necklace Info:

Necklaces are designed by a local jeweler, and come with several options.

Rectangle frame (approximately 2cm x 1cm), and solid heart.

Rectangle frame, and open heart.

Square frame (approx 1.5cm x 1.5cm), and cross charm.

Black and white images look great in the frames as well!

You can select which of the three charms you would like, and if you would like, you can add frames or upgrade the chain for a fee. These necklaces will also be added to my available products, for $45. If you've already held a session with me and would like to order one, contact me!

Maternity Session {Kansas City Photographer}

Thanks to quickly filling the casting call I had last month (looking for pregnant women willing to let me try my hand at a maternity session) I was able to do my first Maternity Session this past Monday! The evening was a little chilly, but the setting sun gave us some gorgeous light to work with. The big brother of the soon-to-arrive little brother was fantastic from the minute he arrived, which is rare for 2 year olds. I had a ball photographing this gorgeous family and am looking forward to the second of the casting call maternity sessions next week!

As I was taking this, he was rubbing his mom's belly and commenting how warm it was. Completely cracked us up!
